Keyless Entry System
Keyless entry systems are a great method of securing your rental property, without having to use physical keys. They allow guests and tenants to access the building with either a code or their mobile phones. These systems can be used with intercoms that allow video and audio communications. This provides people with multiple options to enter a building. Certain keyless entry systems utilize cloud-based technology which allows them be managed remotely. They also come with more advanced features.
A keyless entry system can be installed in any residential or commercial property. The hardware must be placed at every entryway. The system then needs to be managed and configured via a central console or through a smartphone application. Keyless entry systems in the global market is expected to expand at an annual rate of 11.8 percent between 2016 and 2022, according to Technavio. The market’s growth is due to the increasing demand for security systems for commercial vehicles.
Many people fear being locked out of their homes, and so they often leave an extra key in a secure location. However, this practice can pose a serious security risk since criminals know the places where keys are stored and can find them. Installing a keyless entry at your home is the most effective method to avoid this. This will ensure that you do not find yourself locked out.
Transponder Chip
The transponder, also referred to as “chip key” is a microchip that is embedded in the head part of your car keys. It’s one of the most important safety layers for your vehicle. The word transponder comes from the combination of the responder and transmitter. This is because, once the key is fitted into the ignition and the key is turned on, the antenna on your car sends out a blast of radio frequency energy to a transponder chip. The chip then responds with its unique identification code to the antenna ring. the car’s computer will decipher that information and determine if it’s a legitimate key.
The key must be a transponder key to start the car. If it is not, then the vehicle will be immobilized. The chip is protected by a polycarbonate coating that stops it from being copied using mechanical keys that are used in regular use or copied using laser equipment. Beishir Lock and Security carries a wide assortment of transponder keys for sale at much less cost than of car dealerships.
Transponder chips first started to gain popularity in the 1980’s after GM introduced them in the Corvette. The technology significantly reduced the number of vehicle thefts because it rendered hot-wiring a thing of past. This is a basic explanation of the workings of a chip key and should you have any concerns please contact us.
Immobiliser System
The engine immobiliser system (also called the anti-theft) is an essential element of your vehicle’s security. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or Smart Key fob, the transponder chip inside will send an electronic code to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU examines whether the code transmitted by the chip is the one that is stored in it prior to allowing the engine to start.
This is the primary method that your car’s immobiliser prevents theft. If the code in the chip doesn’t match, the ECU stops the flow of current to the fuel pump relay and the injection system, which prevents the engine from beginning. The immobiliser can also disable the starter motor or ignition coil in order to stop the engine from being started by force.
Unfortunately the system isn’t impervious to hacks. Thieves can crack the code used to unlock the immobiliser on your car and make it start. The most recent versions of the system use the longer cryptographic code which makes it more difficult to guess.
Car immobilisers have been required since 1998 but many cars had rudimentary immobilisers before that. It’s important to note that even though an immobiliser system makes it harder to steal a car, it does not stop thieves from towing away or breaking into the car in order to steal your valuables.
Key Replacement
The loss of a remote or key fob can be expensive and frustrating. Locksmiths will need to gain access into the vehicle and decode or read the VIN and then reprogramme the new replacement to wipe out any signatures from the computer for all of keys that were lost or stolen.
The cost of replacing a key will be more expensive if the car is equipped with a transponder or security chip. These chips send an electronic signal to the car which proves your identity as a driver, allowing the doors to be opened or the engine to start. The average cost for a replacement smart key is around $160.
