1. Smeg BCC02
This sleek, compact, and striking machine, designed by Milan-based company Deep Design combines the brand’s retro style with cutting edge technology. It takes care of every step of the coffee machines that use beans-making process – from grinding beans and then tamping the beans into a puck to mixing milk and dispense the right amount – so you can make barista-quality hot drinks at the touch of the button.
The machine also features a stylish brushed aluminium front and is available in a choice of red, black or taupe, meaning it’s a great fit for most kitchen designs. It’s not without its shortcomings however, as most reviewers found it a little expensive for a bean to cup maker (and it doesn’t come with an insulated milk pitcher).
There were many positive reviews about the machine’s ease of use as well as the quality of the coffee. The digital display is intuitive and provides the step-by-step instructions and feedback throughout the making process, allowing you to improve your coffee every time. It will even prompt you to adjust the grind size if it’s not enough. It’s almost like having a personal barista in your own home (minus Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak, and Elon Musk’s rocket-building expertise).
This model is perfect for those who prefer milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable to the right and left to fit a variety of drinking vessels, excluding Viking drinking horns. We were impressed by the speed and effectiveness of the frothing process, as well. It produces a delicious, full-flavoured espresso with a fantastic crema.
The BCC02 is a great all-rounder that’s quiet, efficient and provides excellent value for money at its current price of PS499. The only problem is that it doesn’t provide the same level of customization like other bean to cup coffee machine-to-cup machines we have tested. It has a pump that has 15 bars instead of the usual 19 bars. This is not enough for producing top-quality espressos. But other than that it’s a great bean to cup machine for those who prefer their coffee strong and black. Click here to see Lavazza’s amazing deal.

Users have also been amazed by the speed of the machine. It’s faster than other machine they have ever used. Another benefit is that the machine will alert you when one of its hoppers is almost empty, so you don’t get caught out by running out of your favourite drink.
The only thing that may be a disadvantage for certain individuals is the price. This machine is not cheap, at nearly PS999. It is still cheaper than comparable Jura machines that have similar features.
The Barista TS Smart is backed by an impressive warranty, which provides two years of protection. This is a greater warranty than the typical one-year guarantee. It’s a mark of confidence on behalf of the manufacturer. The machine includes a cleaning tablet, as well as descaler. This makes it easy to maintain the machine.
